Nextprocedure5.4ReinforcedEarthRetainingWallConstructionforeverysectionof50-100mIfthereinforcedearthretainingwallisrequiredatbothsidesofsubgrade,thentheywillbeconstructedsimultaneously;ifretainingwallisonlyatoneside,thentheretainingwallatthatsidewillbecarriedoutalongwiththeembankmentslopeattheothersidetoensurethewholebreadthsynchronization.Forthecurvesectionconstructionwillbecarriedoutinsmallsections,thesectionlengthisdependonradiusofthecurve,casebycaseitwillbehandled.5.4.1RetainingWallSubbaseTreatmentSetoutthesidelinefortheretainingwallandgridlocationsinaccordancewiththeconcurreddrawings,andpositionedthemwithstakes,every10monestake(basedoncurvature,ex.3+209-5m).Theconcretefoundationareaofretainingwallshallbecleanedandproperlyleveledandtamped.Unsuitablematerialatfoundationsoilshouldberemoved(ifnecessary)andthedepthremovedcanbespecifiedaccordingtothesitesituation.Ifnecessary,thetemporarydrainwillbeprovided.DCPtest(≥150Kpa)willbetakeninaccordancewiththerequirementoftheapproveddrawingspriortoC20baseconcreting.Settlementplateswillbeinstalledaccordingtotheapprovedsofttreatmentdrawings.ThesketchofretainingwallfoundationanddrainageditchispresentedinFigure1.CKE/CST/MS-510(Rev.A)Page22of1821IssueA,IssuedforER’sReview Figure1Sectionalviewforretainingwallfoundationanddrainageditch5.4.2C20ConcreteFoundationConstructionofReinforcedRetainingwallErecttheconcretefoundationformworkinaccordacewiththeconcurreddrawingrequirement.QIorQEwillinspecttheformworkerectionaheadofpouring,andthencouldproceedtoconcreting.LoaderwillbeadoptedforC20concretefoundationpouring(othersuitablemachinecouldbechosenastheactualsituationaswell),thenpokervibratorwillbeusedtomakemanuallyvibration.Theconcreteslumpshallbecontrolledbetween30-50mm.Onegroupstandardcuringtestcubeshallbekeptforeachconcretingshift.2additionalexpansionjoints10mm(wide)*6mm(deep)willbesetonthefoundation15.6mmlongin-betweensettlementjointstopreventcrack.5.4.3FoundationformworkstrippingAftercompletingC20concretefoundation,theformworkcouldberemovedunderconditionthattheconcretestrengthisenough(4hours)withoutharmingthefoundationsurfaceandedges.5.4.4LayingandstorageofblocksBeforelayingofblocks,blocksshallbecheckediftheyarequalified(standarddimension)ornot,storagethequalifiedblocksatsamelocationandseparatetheunqualifiedones.Placefurthercoursesaspertheconcurreddrawingsensuringtheyarepushedfullyforwardandaresquarewiththepreviouscourse.Everycourseofblocksshouldbecheckedforhorizontalandverticalalignmentandthelineandlevelofthewalloverallcheckedevery3rdcourse.Anyadjustmentnecessarymaybemadeusingribscutfromthegeogrid/cementmotarorapprovedshimsandtrimming/grindingexcessheights,placedinbetweenblocks.5.4.5GeogridPlacingandFaceInstallationCKE/CST/MS-510(Rev.A)Page22of1821IssueA,IssuedforER’sReview (a)Cutthegridfromtherolltoachievedesignedlengthasaminimumandcuttoleave50mmawayfromtransversebar(acrossthefullwidthoftheroll).Donotcutthembacktothetransversebar.RefertotheSketchasbelow.(b)Removealldebrisfromthetopofthefacingunitsusingabrush.(c)Placethepreparedendofthegridovertherebateintheblock&locatethemouldedconnectorsaroundthetransversebar.Ensurethateachapertureofthegeogridiscoveredbyaconnector.Theconnectorsshouldbesplitwherenecessary.(d)Positiontheassemblyneatlyintotherebatewiththetrimmedribstowardstheface.(e)Repeatthisprocedureforthewholecourseensuringthatadjacentlengthsofgridareabuttedatthewallface.(f)Onceagain,ensuringalldebrisisbrushedaway,placethenextcourse(precastblocksarenowusedrightuptothecopingcourse).Theyshouldbeplacedstretcherbond&arrangedsothatthedownstandispushedupagainstthefrontoftherebateinthelowerunit.Theprecastblockswillbecutbymachinetomaintainthestrencherbond.(g)InstallingofasettlementplateasperconcurredSGTdrawings.(h).Pullthegridsothatthemouldedgridconnectorsareupagainsttherearoftherebate.(i).Insertthetensioningbeam(rebarorwoodenrod)orothermethodoftesionbeamthroughtheaperturesatthefreeendofthegrid&applyaloadsufficienttoremoveanyslack.RefertoFigure2,Figure2onlyforreference.Thelengthforeverysectionwillbeadoptedinaccordancewiththeconcurreddrawings.(j).Theplumbbobwillbeusedtocontrolthewalltiltduringtheinstallationoftheblocks.CKE/CST/MS-510(Rev.A)Page22of1821IssueA,IssuedforER’sReview
