QualityManagementDocumentNo.CHEC-NSH-MS-009RevMethodStatementforRetainingWallWorksCHEC5.2.3Makegooddrainagearrangementbeforebaseexcavation,duringwhichkeepdrainageinagoodcondition,ensuringthatwaterhazardispreventedduringconstruction.5.3ExcavationofTrenchFoundation5.3.1Basedonthesitegeologicalcondition,theexcavationoffoundationtrenchshallbecarriedoutinsectionbyexcavatorandhydraulichammer.Whenmechanicalexcavationreachesto10cmabovethedesignedfoundationelevation,restartthesurveyandstaking-out.Andthentheexcavationoffoundationshallbeexcavatedandcleanedmanuallytoensurethatthefoundationcomplieswiththedesignandspecificationrequirements(bearingcapacityofretainingwallfoundationshallcomplywiththefollowingrequirements:1.Forthesandysoilandsandclay,thebearingcapacityshallnotbelessthan250KPa.2.Forthesoftyrock,thebearingcapacityshallnotbelessthan350KPa.3.Forthetoughrock,thebearingcapacityshallnotbelessthan500KPa.)5.3.2Paycloseattentiontoslopestabilityduringexcavation.Ifthereisanycrackonthetopsurfacesoilofthepitedge,reliablesupportshallbeprovidedimmediately.5.3.3Thesloperateoffoundationtrenchisdeterminedbysitegeologicalconditionandexcavationdepth,andthereshouldbetiltedwithslopeonfoundationbottom,withintherangeof0.2:1(sloperatecanbeproperlyloweredifrocklayerandexcavationdepthisnotdeep),butthedetailedconditionshallbedeterminedbydrawing.Foundationexcavationdimensionisasfollowing:Page14of19 QualityManagementDocumentNo.CHEC-NSH-MS-009RevMethodStatementforRetainingWallWorksCHEC2)Makesurethedesign,shape,dimensionandmutuallocationofconcretestructureandeachpartofcomponentsshallbecorrect.3)Theformworkshallpossesssufficientstrength,rigidityandstabilitytostandthegravityandlateralpressureofnewly-castconcreteaswellasvariouspossibleloadsarisingduringconstruction.4)Thereshallbenocementslurryleakagebetweenformworkjoints;contactsurfacebetweenformworkandconcreteshallbeclean,andafterwardsreleasingagentshallbeapplied,whichshallnotaffecttheperformanceofformwork.Theformworkshallbecleanedupandstoredasperrequirementafterdismantling.5)Theformworkadopts50rackpipesashorizontalbandandverticalband,bothspacing50cm,theflankofformworkisfixedtotheslopeoffoundationtrenchwithadjustabletopsupport,withsupportspace90cm.Firstassembleformworkinpieces,thenassembleinsectionaccordingtothelocationofsettlementjoint,aftereachsectionassembly,adjustformworkstraightdegreewithlinesonthefoursides,fixitonlyaftermeetingthequalityrequirements.Inordertoensuretheinternalwidthofformwork,woodsupport,havingthesamethicknesswiththewall,issetinsidetheformworkasinternalsupport,arowofboltspenetratingthewallissetattheupper,middle,bottom,andonesupportisaddedtotheupperofformworkforanchoring.5.4.3ConcreteCasting1)Thefollowingpreparationshallbemadebeforecastingconcrete:Priortoconcretecast,fixformwork,levelandtightenjoints,cleandebris,anddischargepondingwater.2)Theslumpdegreeofconcretesenttositeshallbetestedfromtimetotime,forthosenotmeetingtherequirementsshallbereturnedtothebatchingplantforreprocess,andaddingwaterrandomlyisprohibited.3)Theconcreteshallbecastinlayer,withthicknessnotexceeding1m,andtheconstructionjointshallbotberandomlyleaved.Page14of19 QualityManagementDocumentNo.CHEC-NSH-MS-009RevMethodStatementforRetainingWallWorksCHEC4)Concreteplacementshallbeconductedcontinuously.Whenitstopsduetocertainreasons,theintervalshallbelessthansellingtimeorreshapingtimeofpreviouslayerconcrete.Whendumpingconcretefromhigherlocation,thefollowingrequirementsshallbesatisfiedinordertopreventconcreteseparation:theheightshallbecontrolledwithin2m;iftheheightisover2m,aconduitorchuteshallbeputintouse.Duringconcretecast,concreteshallbevibratedfromtimetotimetomakeituniformlydense,andvibrationisrecommendedtobecarriedoutverticallybyimmersionvibrator.Fastinsertionandslowwithdrawshallexecuteduringvibration.Seamlessvibrationandnon-defectsontheconcretesurfacearerecommended.Therubbleplacedintoconcreteintherubbleconcreteretainingwallshallsatisfythefollowingrequirements:(1)Rubbleintensitylevelshallnotbelessthan30Mpa.(2)Maximumsizeforrubblestoneshallnotbemorethan1/4ofitsdepthofthelayer,andtheminimumsizeoftherubblestoneshallnotbelessthan15cm.(3)Rubbleshallbewashedcleanbeforeplacing.(4)Rubbleshallbeplacedevenlyandsecurely,netdistancebetweenrubbleshallnotbelessthan15cm,notlessthan25cmbetweenrubbleandformwork.(5)Thetopsurfaceofuppermostrubbleshallbecoveredbyconcretelayer,withthicknessnotlessthan25cm.(6)Rubbleshallbeplacedmanually,andspecialattentionmustbepaidtorubblesoasnottodamageformworkandPVCpipe.(7)Thevolumeofrubbleshallnotexceed25%ofthetotalvolumeofrubbleconcrete.Page14of19 QualityManagementDocumentNo.CHEC-NSH-MS-009RevMethodStatementforRetainingWallWorksCHEC8)Afterconcretecastcompletion;coveritwithgeotechnicalfabricforcuring,whosedurationwillnotbelessthan7days.5.4.4ConstructionJointsTreatment1)Stalagmiteshallbeplacedateachconstructionjoint,toenhanceconcreteadhesioncapacity.2)Artificialchiselingshallbecarriedoutatthesmoothspotofconstructionjoint,chiselingareagreaterthan80%ofthetotalarea.5.5WallBackfillingandWeepHoleandSettlementJointArrangement5.5.1Clayshallbeusedforbackfillingundertheoutletofeachlayer,15cmdeepforeachlayerand30cmhighinall,andthentampedmanually.Onelayerof30cmnaturalgravelfilterlayerisfilledintoretainingwallback,thecontentofnaturalgravel<5%.5.5.2Whenintensityofwallconcretereachmorethan70%ofthedesignedintensity,backfillingforretainingwallbackshallbeconductedtoensurethequalityofwall.5.5.3Wallbackfillingshallbeconductedandtampedinlayerby15cm.Forthepartwhichcan’tbetampedbyroller,artificialelectrictampingcompactionisrecommended.5.5.4Forthewallaboveground,outletshallbesetalternatelyeach2m.Theoutletentrance’slocationshallbestrictlycontrolledtoensurethattheirlocationisaccurate,instraightlines. Φ50mmPVCpipeshallbeembeddedintotheoutletandextendedto10cmdeepofwallback,andgeo-textileshallbeusedforpackingattheend’s20cmpoint.Thebottomofoutletshallbe30cmhigherthantheground,andpermeablegeo-textileshallbeappliedtotheinlet.Atthesametime,controlwaterslopeoftheoutletat4%duringconstruction,ensuringsmoothdrainageoftheoutlet.5.5.5Onesettlementjointshallbeprovidedateach10-15minterval,with2cmwidegap.Andthegapshallbefilledbyasphaltoakum,15cmdeep.Page14of19
