EducationalPlanforMasterDegreeProgramBridgeandTunnelEngineeringMajor(081406)BriefIntroductiontotheSubjectTheBridgeandTunnelEngineeringdisciplineinTongjiUniversitywasfoundedbyProfcssorGuohaoLiin1952.ItwasoneofthetwoearliestBridgeandTunnelEngineeringdisciplinesinChina,andhasbeenlongestablishedsince・In1981,itwasinthefirstbatchofdisciplinestostartconferringM.S.andPh.D・degreesinStructuralEngineering,includingbridgeandtunnelengineering,andin1986,itwasinthefirstbatchtosetuppostdoctorateprogramandbeawardedthenationalkeydiscipline.ThefirstBridgeEngineeringDepartmentinChinawasestablishedatTongjiUniversityin1987,andindependentBridgeandTunnelEngineeringgraduateprogramsweresetupforM.S・degreein1988,andforPh.D.degreeandpostdoctorateprogramin1990.In1998,theBridgeandTunnelEngineeringdisciplineinTongjiUniversitybecameoneofthefirstfewdisciplinestoopenfiill-professorshippositionsundertheChangjiangScholarAwardProgramoftheMinistryofEducation(MOE),andwasnamedasthekeydisciplineforthenational211Project.ItwasselectedastheMainKeyDisciplineofShanghaiin2000,andastheNationalKeyDisciplinefrom2001until2007.TheBridgeandTunnelEngineeringdisciplinenowhas24fullprofessors(including19Ph.Dstudentsupervisors),19associateprofessors,31lecturers,2academiciansintheChineseAcademyofEngineering,1MOEChangjiangScholarAwardfullprofessor,and1MOENewCenturyTalent.Thebaseforteachingandresearcharethreebuildings,eachfortheBridgeEngineering,theWindEngineeringandtheTJ-1Wind-Tunnel,withtotalstructuralareasof9,000squaremeters.ThemainfacilitiesR)rteachingandresearchinclude4boundarylayerwindtunnels(includingthelargestboundarylayerwindtunnelintheworldtheTJ-3windtunnel),theheaviesttwo-waydynamicandstaticHydraulicServoLoadingSysteminChina,theOnxy-3800parallelcomputingserverfi-omSGIcompany,therearprojectionvirtualrealitysystemfromBARCOcompany,andetc.,withtotalfixassetof70millionRMB.Aftercompletingallrequiredcourses,studentsaregrantedwithM.S.degreeofengineeringLEducationalGoalThroughthestudyoftheM.S.degree,thestudentsareabletomastertheprofessionalknowledgeandcorrespondingfundamentaltechniquesofthediscipline,developskillsintheindependentscientificresearch,andbetrainedtobecomethetalentsfortechnologyandmanagementinbridgeengineering.ILResearchOrientations(1)BridgeDesignTheory;(2)BridgeEarthquakeResistanceandVibration;(3)BridgeandStmctureWindResistance;(4)BridgeMonitoringandControl;(5)ConcreteBridge;(6)SteelandCompositeBridge.
